Tadaaaa.....My Baby's Crib Bedding Hacker!!

Yeay....I successfully converted the children duvet into a baby's crib bedding!! Btw, I decided not to paint the baby crib because it is not easy for me to find Nippon White pylox spray paint at the hardware shops. I don't want to waste my time to look and find the spray paint as my due date is around the corner. So we just leave the crib with its original color.

Bought 3 nos of I.K.E.A soft toys. 'Penyeri' for my baby cot.

Also bought a preloved Fisher Price hanging cot mobile. Will be selling this back once Aymann reached 6 months of age. =)

Come Play Kitchen with Mommy

I remember when I was a little girl , I always dreaming of having my own play kitchen set and play with my girl friends and my brother (Syahril..no wonder he cooks well than me. :/ and now he's becoming a Chef)

Since my parents couldn't afford to buy us the play kitchen set (we never had an idea that the kitchen set was very expensive at that time) so we decided to build our own with several packing boxes that we found from the supermarket.

The idea was iniated by my late father I think because he knew we really wanted the kitchen play set and he promised to help us building it. We managed to find a big and thick TV packing box and converted it to a cooker. My father marked (with a marker pen) a several round cookers on top on the box, an oven door at the front of the box and after that we painted the box together to a color that we wanted.

We also found another tall box which we then converted into a fridge. We marked the fridge door, cut it so it can swing like a door and painted it. After that we put everything inside which we thought of we should put in the fridge while we playing masak-masak .:] ... So that's how I played my masak-masak..very cheap and low cost...and we were very happy to what we did at that time though it was only made from used packing box.

So I found something interesting for the Mommy out there. How about trying this beautiful hacking at home for your little daughter? Wait for my next post for the instructions of constructing this lovely Kitchen Play Set.

Mr Billy In The Pantry

It looks like our Mr Billy finally finds a new purpose in Pantry. Yeay! What a great use of space.
Well according to the Owner, the kitchen area is too small so he converted this set of Billy Bookcases (with extenders and doors) to a pantry. Also if you noticed, the chair and custom table top are also from IKEA except the connecting shelf and trim was from cheap particle board that we can get anywhere in the hardware shop. (and of course we must paint it to white..)

So friends, if you are having the same kitchen floor plan with this one, I bet you are loooking for something like this!No harm for stealing the idea and re-do your kitchen!

Happy Trying!

IKEA Billy Bookcase

I have been waiting since November 08 for those two Black Billy Bookcases (RM 185.00/each) new stock to arrived at IKEA. Can you believe it? Actually, I was planning to have a White Billy Bookcase but I change my mind as my husband insisted to go for black because white color get stain and dirty easily. While me on the other hand admiring white because it will make the living room section looks clean and larger.

Initially there was nothing at the left and right side of the TV cabinet. I know the bookcase looks so empty. I'm still looking for an idea how to make it looks great showcase for books and display items. Been thinking of putting two wall shelfs above the tv cabinet but not now.
But Hey!! With the new bookcase, my book collection and stuff will have more space to grow! Yeay!

I'll update this weblog post whenever there is new upgrading information in my living room . Ciao!

A Megahobby Workstation

My next project is to construct a work station for my husband. I know he's been dying to have his own workstation where he can do the paperwork, computerwork, reading and his crazy megahobby- building air craft model but with a very limited of budget that we had when we first moved in to the new house, we felt that we need to forget about it. But not anymore.

For the concept, I'm planning to have an open and multipurpose workstation. Pics attached (from ikeahacker) are some good sample for me to begin with the planning and construction. Believe it or not, the desk top you are actually see is a PAX high gloss cabinet door from Ikea. Initially it was a Galant Desk, but the Owner wanted a new look and found the a suitable top for his new desk top.

He says,"I didn't wanted to use my old (Galant) desk top so searched for an alternative. I found a high gloss for the Pax cabinet system for 20 pound. As table legs I reused my old ones from the (Galant) table".

Cool huh! Well, I'm not sure how much it costs here. But it would be much super-duper cool if I could find something in IKEA 'AS-IS' section where they usually keep ex-display doors, table tops, and etc there. Any luck with AS-IS stuff section? Yup. Surely do because most of my IKEA stuffs were bought from this section. Chaiyok!

The Square Huggie Pillow

So crazy&love being surrounded with these pillows and it is always going to be in my "MUST HAVE LIST" in the car, office and home. I have few plain square pillows before and had succesffuly transformed them to a new funky and stylish look. Pic below shows my huggie pillow.

Materials:

1 m of fabric (The fabric in the pic is from Ikea, price is RM25.90 / metre)

* with 1 metre fabric, you can make 3 pcs medium size square pillow.

Guides to make your own Square pillow:

1.To make your pillow, cut two squares of fabric that are one inch bigger than your finished pillow measurement on each side.

2. Place the two squares so that they are on top each other and so that the brighter side of each square faces the other square's brighter side.

3.Sew around thress sides of the fabric squares, using a half inch seam allowance. (A seam allowance is the measurement from the edge of the fabric to where you want the sewing machine to stitch the fabric)

4.On the fourth side of the squares, sew a third of the way from each side. This leaves you with an open space in the middle of that side. Use that space to turn your pillow ride side out. Finally, you are ready to finish your pillow. Stuff it firmly and then hand stich the opening closed. Now you can repeat the process to make a matching pillow.

The End!

Finally Constructed...

I finally constructed my entry way table. A mirror from Ikea (RM 55.00) is hung above the table to help me style the tudung or make-up before leaving the house.
Speaking about mirror, I just knew about something and I feel I should tell everybody about this!
Do you know why sometimes we look thinner in some dressing room mirrors than we usually do in our full-length mirror at home? You'd be amazed at the tricks many stores use to convince you to buy clothes while you're in the dressing room. The lighting may be one factor, but more likely, it's the angle of the mirror. Just like a funhouse mirror, dressing room mirrors are sometimes angled a bit to change the way you look. Stores will often tilt the mirror so the bottom is farther forward than the top; this creates the illusion that you are taller and skinnier. Do not get fooled guys and think twice before shopping!

A Duplicate of Slim and Sexy Entry Way Table

I'm so in love with this entry way table which I found in ikea hacker website. Initially planning to find a white modern, sleek and clean look entry table but I coudn't find a catchy one. I've found one but the size is about 2ft X 6ft which is too big for me because I do not want to sacrifise my floor area just to drop my mails and keys! Instead, I came out with duplicating the idea with Lack wall shelf (RM 69.00) and two Vika Fintorp Leg (RM 30.00/each) to construct my slim and sexy entry way table!Absolutely gorgeous!
